Children’s Dentistry in Renton, WA

Helps Your Precious Smiles

Young kid smiling in dental chairIs your little one’s teeth starting to come in? If so, it’s probably time to start thinking about their first dental appointment. According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, a child should come in for their first appointment as soon as their first tooth erupts or before their first birthday. By bringing your child to the dentist at an early age, you’ll not only give Dr. Sam DK Kim the chance to make sure their teeth are coming in properly, but you’ll also be sending a strong message to your child that their dental care is important. These early appointments will help them establish a positive connection to taking care of their teeth, which will help them develop habits that will keep their smile healthy for the rest of their lives.

Your Child’s First Appointment

When you bring your child to see us, we know that the most important thing we can do is make sure that they are comfortable. A dental office is a new place with many strange sights and sounds for a child, and we understand this can make many of them nervous. Fortunately, our team is very experienced with treating children, and Dr. Kim himself is actually a pediatric dentist. This means he has received special training specifically geared towards treating Renton’s littlest smiles.

We’ll start the appointment by taking your child around the office and introducing them to everyone, and after a short conversation with you, Dr. Kim will perform a brief oral exam and cleaning while they sit in your lap. From this, he’ll be able to discuss strategies for your child’s long-term dental care, and you’ll be able to ask any questions you like. After this appointment, you should bring your child in every 6 months for regular checkups and cleanings where we’ll monitor their teeth’s growth and development.
